Marián Jasík, Daniel Dítě

Acta Carp. Occ. 7: 9-14, 2016 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2016.002

Linnaea borealis was known as a missing species in Slovakia for several decades. It was re-discovered in 2013 on a single locality in the High Tatra Mts. In the vegetation seasons 2014 and 2015, during the intensive survey of old-growth forests of Slovakia, we confirmed Linnaea borealis in other locations. New locality has been found not only in the High Tatras, but also in the Low Tatra Mts. Currently, there are seven occurrences of the species in Slovakia. All of them are concentrated around massive boulders near the upper forest timberline or in casual avalanche gullies where Pinus mugo descends from the higher altitudes, usually on northern and...

Acta Carp. Occ. 7: 15-19, 2016 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2016.003

In Slovakia there are four documented historical sites of Cochlearia pyrenaica. The species was originally considered as Cochlearia tatrae, only in 2000 it was recognized as a new species for Slovakia and the Western Carpathians. Recently it is known only from two closer lying locations in the Veľká Fatra Mts. The remaining two sites were considered extinct. Our contribution contains information about the rediscovery of Cochlearia pyrenaica on the historical site near Tatranská Kotlina Settlement on the foothills of the Belianske Tatry Mts. Vital population was found in the vegetation of the association Cochleario pyrenaicae-Cratoneuretum bounded to...

Water beetles of the Kurovice quarry (Coleoptera: Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae, Dytiscidae, Helophoridae, Hydrochidae, Hydrophilidae, Hydraenidae, Dryopidae, Limnichidae)

Dušan Trávníček

Acta Carp. Occ. 7: 67-77, 2016 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2016.011

Water beetle fauna was studied in the Kurovice quarry where relatively extensive wetland habitats (a lake and pools) emerged after the finish of the limestone quarrying. The unsuitable fish species (perches and pikes) planted in the lake somewhere around 1999 caused the restriction not only of the amphibian populations, but also negatively influenced the invertebrate communities and thus only the pools offer appropriate conditions for water beetles. Altogether 27 mostly common euryecious species belonging to the 5 families were recorded in the first phase of the study carried on in the period 1997-2004. The second phase was realised in the years 2015...
