Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 3-11, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.001
The study deals with diversity of vascular plant species in a medieval castle ruin in North of Central Slovakia (Likava castle near Ružomberok town), based on the author's own field research (in 1996) and published data (from 2015). The castle was built in the 14th century and destructed in the 18th century. It undergone a reconstruction in the last few years. All plant taxa recorded in two different study periods are listed in alphabetic order. Species richness of the castle flora was close to 140 species. In the first period (1996) 89 species and in the second period (2015) 108 species were recorded, respectively. In both periods (1996 and 2015)...

Mezira tremulae tremulae (Germar, 1822), a rare saproxylic species of flat bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Aradidae), is recorded here for the first time from the White Carpathians (eastern Moravia, Czech Republic). It was found in an old beech forest within the Sidonie Nature Reserve in the Vlárský průsmyk Pass. The distribution of M. tremulae tremulae in the Czech Republic is discussed and shown in a map.

Ondřej Konvička, Ladislav Kandrnál
Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 27-32, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.004
The first specific faunistic records of Rosalia alpina alpina (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Chřiby mountains (eastern Moravia, Czech Republic) are presented. Three males and dozens of emergency holes were observed in Holý kopec Nature Reserve. A photo of one male and emergency holes were taken.

Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 36-42, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.006
We refer on the remarkable recent records of 20 beetle species from the urban park of Banská Bystrica (Slovakia) (during the years 2019 and 2020). Some of them are surprising and remarkable, especially in the case of rare and even relict species, including Bothrideres bipunctatus (Gmelin, 1790), Rhopalocerus rondanii (A. et G. B. Villa, 1833) and Bolitophagus interruptus Illiger, 1800. This article confirms that old trees in the urban environments can be an important habitat of rare and threatened beetles and other animals.

Dušan Trávníček
Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 43-52, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.007
A total of 46 species of water beetles were recorded during the inventory survey of six nature reserves/monuments with wetland habitats in the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. The survey took place in 2019 and 2020 and yielded six species that figure in the Red List of Threatened Species of the Czech Republic: Graptodytes bilineatus, Helophorus asperatus, Hydraena schuleri and Laccobius obscuratus are classified as nearly threatened and Hydraena morio together with Helochares lividus belong to the category of vulnerable species. The occurrence of five species of water beetles, which have not yet been published from this area, was found out:...

Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 53-59, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.008
The authors summarize faunistic information from recently published works and unpublished data on the distribution of genus Sylvicola (Diptera: Anisopodidae) in the Czech Republic. Altogether six species of the genus Sylvicola are known from the Czech Republic: two species of the subgenus Anisopus (S. fuscatus and S. punctatus) and four species of the subgenus Sylvicola (S. cinctus, S. fenestralis, S. limpidus, and S. zetterstedti). The three species, namely S. cinctus, S. fuscatus, and S. punctatus, are common on the territory of the Czech Republic, other three species are much rarer. Sylvicola fenestralis is known from 16 mapping grids over the whole...

Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 60-68, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.009
The River Bečva occurs at the confluence of Rožnovská Bečva and Vsetínská Bečva rivers in Valašské Meziříčí. Fishes inhabiting River Bečva present a typical fish composition characteristic for barbel zone. Ichthyological research of its both sources done in 1997 and 1999 has confirmed that the sources are the flows in which the barbel zone communities above the confluence progressively transform into grayling and trout inhabited waters having the high ratio of dominating brown trout, common minnow and, in the highest sections, europian bullhead, alpine bullhead respectively. The low transformation sections having barbel zone species present variable...

Zdeněk Tyller
Acta Carp. Occ. 11: 69-71, 2020 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2020.010
The European Wildcat (Felis silvestris) is one of the most elusive predators in Czech Republic, it was considered as extinct since 1960s, but recently thanks to today's modern technologies, camera traps, its occurence has been proven not only on the Czech-Slovak border, but also in other areas of the Czech Republic. This article reveals another probable observation of the European Wildcat on the Czech side of the Western Carpathians, more specifically in PLA Bílé Karpaty.
