Within the scope of this study, ichthyological research was carried out in the area of three streams (Vermiřovský potok, Starozuberský potok, Zákopecký potok), tributaries of the river Rožnovská Bečva, in 2009. Five localities (100 m line transects) were studied within each of these streams using electrical battery-operated aggregate. The main aims of this work were: to find out the current structure of fish species settlement and quantitative characteristics of the populations, to specify the fragmentation of the streams with transverse objects, and to assess the influence of these barriers on Siberian sculpin presence. Coexistence of two fish species (Siberian sculpin - Cottus poecilopus and Brown trout - Salmo trutta m. fario) was discovered within the studied localities. In total, 1,868 fish individuals were captured, including 781 individuals of Siberian sculpin and 1,087 individuals of Brown trout. The abundance of Siberian sculpin (individuals older then 1 year) varied between 200 pcs.ha-1 (the Vermiřovský potok stream) and 4,356 pcs.ha-1 (the Zákopecký potok stream). The mean value from all 13 localities was 2,132 pcs.ha-1. The abundance resulted from the characteristics of the studied locality (structure of the stream bottom, depth, flow speed). The most frequent occurrence of Siberian sculpin were found in the Vermiřovský potok brook at the river km of 5.946 (600 m a. s. l.), in the Starozuberský potok brook at the river km of 7.340 (580 m a. s. l.), and in the Zákopecký potok brook at the river km of 4.060 (630 m a. s. l.) respectively. On average, 92 transverse objects were detected within the studied streams.
