Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 12-21, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.003
The characteristic feature of the Veľká Fatra Mts (Western Carpathians) is the rich development of nivation cirques on various slope aspects of the main mountain chain. Special ecological conditions of these sites determine their high species richness. In one of them was found a willow population which includes individuals indicating a relation to Salix hastata, a species poorly known in the Veľká Fatra Mts. Presented paper gives a brief description of the morphological attributes of its local population and some comments on the flora of the site. Some general aspects of nivation cirques in the Veľká Fatra Mts, concerning their distribution, origin...

Dominik Zukal, Pavel Novák
Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 22-33, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.004
Although the Štramberk Karst is one of the most important botanical sites of the north-eastern Moravia, the local forest vegetation has been poorly studied so far. For this reason, we conducted field sampling focusing on mesophilous forest vegetation, especially on the scree- and rock-outcrop forests. We recorded 16 phytosociological relevés and basic environmental variables of the plots. We divided our relevés into three main vegetation types using numerical analysis: beech forests, rock-outcrop forests and ravine forests. Among them, we distinguished six associations, four of them belonging to the alliance Tilio platyphylli-Acerion (1 to 4) and two...

Slíďák břehový (Arctosa cinerea) na štěrkových lavicích řeky Bečvy u obce Skalička
The Giant Riverbank Wolf Spider (Arctosa cinerea) on gravel bars of the Bečva river near the village of Skalička
Dušan Trávníček
Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 38-41, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.006
A rich population of the Giant Riverbank Wolf Spider (Arctosa cinerea) was observed on the naturalised stretch of the Bečva river. The Red List of the Czech Spiders evaluates this species as critically endangered. Not only this rare spider occurs at the site, but other endangered invertebrates also find appropriate conditions here and thus the locality should be protected. The realisation of the plan to build a dam near the village of Skalička would lead to the changes of the water regime that could cause the extermination of the Giant Riverbank Wolf Spider at the Bečva river.

We provide records of two endangered species of saproxylic insects, Aradus obtectus Vásárhelyi, 1988 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Aradidae) and Peltis grossa (Linnaeus, 1758) (Coleoptera: Trogossitidae), documenting for the first time their presence in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve in the eastern Czech Republic (= the White Carpathians). Both these species were collected under the bark of a dead silver fir (Abies alba) in the Ščúrnica private nature reserve near the town of Valašské Klobouky. We review and map their distribution in the Czech Republic and discuss their biology and conservation management.

Ondřej Konvička
Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 60-66, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.009
New faunistic records of Agnathus decoratus (Germar, 1818) from the Moravia Region (Czech Republic) and Greece are presented. The latter finding constitutes the first country record of A. decoratus in Greece. In the Czech Republic the species was found in three localities on the Bečva River, and these represent the first findings from the Bečva River Basin. Another two records came from the Morava River Basin. This species is critically endangered in the Czech Republic. It is particularly threatened on the Bečva River due to a project of the Skalička Dam, which is planned to be build near the Skalička village. Night activity of A. decoratus was observed...

Distribution of Lemonia dumi and Autumn silkworm moth (Lemonia taraxaci) (Lepidoptera: Brahmaeidae) in the Moravian Wallachia
Lukáš Spitzer, Jiří Beneš
Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 86-96, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.012
This study presents all known records of two Brahmeidae moths (Lepidoptera) species originating from Moravian Wallachia (the Czech Republic), based on targeted monitoring since 2004. Both species are listed as endangered in red list. The Lemonia dumi is rarer of the two species in the region. It has been recorded from 10 sites belonging to 7 grid mapping quadrates. These include a strong population in Vsetínská Bečva Valley, seven rather small populations in Hostýnské Vrchy Hills, and two strong populations in northern Bílé Karpaty Mts. In contrast, the endangered Lemonia taraxaci remains widely distributed in the region, we are documenting its presence...
Stepní lada jako refugia motýlů agrární krajiny Čejčska
Steppe enclaves as refuges for butterflies and burnets of the agricultural landscape surrounding Čejč
Tomáš Kuras, Monika Mazalová, Bořivoj Šarapatka
Acta Carp. Occ. 8: 97-116, 2017 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2017.013
Landscape structure of the south-eastern Moravian region near Čejč was substantially changed during the collectivisation era in 1950-1960. At the same time, the region is considered to be a regional hot-spot of butterflies (Papilionoidea) and burnets (Zygaenidae) diversity. Hence we aimed to compare historical and current data of species occurrence using both literature and field survey. Altogether 122 species (i. e. two thirds of total species diversity of taxa in the Czech Republic) occurred up to year 2001, yet only 82 species were found recently (2002-2017), showing substantial decrease in total number of species - nearly 33%. Many of the specialized...
