Euryecious and detritophilous species prevail in the species spectrum, but crenophilous, potamal, rhitral and semiaquatic species are also considerably represented which is congruent with the habitat type. Habitat preference of the water scavenger beetle Enochrus fuscipennis is discussed, the occurrence of the diving beetle Hydroporus pubescens...

The influence of the altitude on changes of reproduction activity and potential in the bank vole (Myodes glareolus)
Ivan Baláž
Acta Carp. Occ. 1: 53-61, 2010 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2010.005
The article deals with the influence of altitude on changes of reproduction activity and potential in the bank vole Myodes glareolus (Rodentia: Arvicolidae). The average testes size (length) of males increased from March to June and then slowly decreased (in hilly landscape). Only those males caught in June were used for testing the influence of altitude on testes length. Negative correlation was found between the testes length and altitude; decrease of testes length from lowland to higher mountain zone was 15.7%. The most intensive reproduction activity was recorded in August and gradually declined till December in both sexes. Number of embryos in...

Nutrition value of local varieties of apple trees typical of the White Carpathians region
Otakar Rop
Acta Carp. Occ. 1: 69-73, 2010 | DOI: 10.62317/aco.2010.007
Local varieties of apple trees are typical of the White Carpathians region. They can exceed common comercially grown varieties in many nutritional values. The aim of this contribution was to monitor the content of some significant nutritional components - dry matter, vitamin C, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium and to compare the values of their content with the commercially grown varieties of 'Golden Delicious', 'Spartan' and 'Rubín'. Altogether 18 local varieties of apple trees were chosen. High nutritional values were found in, for example, 'Panenské české' variety or 'Jadernička moravská' which is one of the most typical of the White...
